Heroes - Season One

So I've been struck down this week with a vicious flu. Normally I'm able to withstand a lot, yet it seems when I'm staying up late doing homework then heading in to work day after day, it takes its toll. So I found myself Sunday feeling that lactic acid creep across the shoulder blades, followed up that night with the sweat that comes from a body trying to slay the invaders within.
Which led to Monday, stoned on Thera-Flu and creating a mucousy mess on our daybed couch, my love put in Season One of Heroes to help me while away the time. She picked it up Saturday, interested to know what it was all about. Can't say I blame her; the discussion around the Interweb and in social circles is pretty big. Nothing bad has been said around me, and all the discussion I've read is positive as well. Hell, it was this sort of talk that got me into Battlestar Galactica! So my sweetheart popped in the DVD and I was able to watch the whole season over the course of a few days.
The writing is fantastic. I mean, they are able to interweave several characters throughout the course of an episode, with writing that is crisp and concise. I have to admit, I really dig the Horn Rimmed Glasses chap, and the politician Nathan Petrelli. Which will lead me to look into myself as to why, but that's a meditive process I'll leave until I'm feeling better.

If you haven't seen it, go get it and watch it. It gets the Raging Gaijin Seal of Approval: Kick Ass!
Now if you pardon me, it's time for me to go regenerate my tissues so I can renew my efforts against Teh Homework!

Escape Velocity

Yeah, Galen settled. His comments really pushed his feelings to the fore, about how people settle for what they can get, not what they want/need. "I settled. I settled for that shriek. With those dull vacant eyes. The oiled cabbage stench of her. And why? Because this is my life! This is the life I picked!" This was pure emotional vitriol pouring forth from anger and fear. This sort of writing keeps me coming back because it has a sense of the Real. I don't doubt there are people out there who may think the same thing after this episode. That's great writing to me.

Adama is a cylon. Remember that first series scrap piece of paper? He projects on his Anniversary. Yeah, I think Adama really said those things to Galen, which pushed him.

I love how the writers are making Baltar out to the Jesus figure.

The President's hate for Baltar is blinding her. She is akin to the figures who had power to protect, and their fear causes them to make decisions that could be used against the populace.

Tigh. My favorite character in this series. He's looking upon Six and hearing her words, it's close to the forgiveness he needs. So close, yet not enough. So he seeks the pain as a form of sacrifice. He hates Baltar so much, (and the person at the NYComicCon who said Tigh's voice is tinged with hatred is so true!) The beating from Six is the sacrifice he needs. ("More weight" ~ The Crucible.) In the end, does he make love to Six? I hope so, because he's projecting Ellen. Oh, and I believe the Six knows. She gives him the Nietscheshehshe "Look into the Abyss" speech, which was a brilliant touch.

The scene with Six manipulating Baltar is visual proof that she isn't a figment of his imagination; as one poster said, he was like a marionette. "I want to stay down, I really want to stay down." I loved that part. It reminds me of the verse: Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's will that prevails. She is an Angel of God, as she says. So going off of this, it lends credence to the belief of the Old Gods, because a servant of the One God is manifest. It is implied the One God was cast out by the Old Gods because He was a jealous god, (As spake in the series and the Wiki), and was exiled to Earth. Since God has his Angels, why wouldn't the Old Gods help their believers? (They have. How do you think they found the algae planets. The Old Gods seem to believe in hardship as their guide, where the One God relies on Science. Which is probably why the One God is gaining popularity; their sermon is "You are Perfect the way you are", and their believers always seem to come out on top. Especially after getting your face beat in.)

Look, I'm a dude and I like to think I'm frakking tough. I've been in my share of fights in my youth, I know jail isn't a frakking joke, and I'll protect what's mine because that's my duty and I love them, dig? So imagine my frakkin' surprise when I watch the final scene with Six and Tigh and I hear Saul ask for more like the frakking godzilla that he is, I hear her words, then they kiss, and I'm looking around to see if my lady is going to catch me crying. I mean seriously, knock it off: Writers.

Dude, between you and me? I'm frakking jazzed to think I've met my Six.

Something in the Universe loves Me.
The sermon of Gaius Baltar:

I'm not a priest. I'm not even particularly a good man.
I've infact, been a profoundly... selfish man.
That doesn't matter, you see.
Something in the Universe, loves me.
Something in the Universe. Loves. The entity that is Me.
I will choose to call this something: God.
A Singular Spark, that dwells in the Soul of every living being.
If you look inside yourself, you will find this spark too. You will.
But You have to look.
Deep.
Love Your faults. Embrace them.
If God embraces them, then how can they be faults?
love yourself.
You have to love Yourself.
If we don't love Ourselves, how can We love Others?
And when We know what We are, then We can find the truth out about Others.
See what they are. The Truth about Them.
And you know what the Truth is! The Truth about Them!?
About You!? About Me? Do You?
the truth is we are all perfect.
just as we are.
God only loves that which is Perfect, and He loves You. He loves You because you are Perfect.
You are Perfect.
Just as you Are!

(If you are the GM: Hands out, arms wide pose, get a light behind him to act as halo, awesome, cut to the candy ass for contrast. Cut and print!)

Who gets that kinda love from parents? I'd follow the One God. Hell of a role to follow, especially with a Harem. =) Tory is hawt.

And why do I want to watch Iron Man really bad? >.<

Venture Brothers, Season 3

Don't watch if you don't want spoilers! (Like Dr. Girlfriend's new outfit now that she and The Monarch are married!)

Oh, and one more thing...

THE POWER OUTAGE WAS FLEET WIDE.

think about it.

what's in the box?

This is an exercise we are required to do at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Here we are told to portray a character and their reaction, so that the viewer will know what is inside the box. This is the Blocking stage, where in Maya I block out the primary actions and time the gag.

Oh, and for you SNL fans:

Yeah, I thought of it. =P

Spend the money!

It's one-third of your life.

Photobucket

Upgraded from the lower thread count of 250, which is like sleeping on hay. 500 thread count, goosedown comforter, and a bed set that was made for a bed. And I mean made for a bed. That fucker has edges on the comforter that are at angles. Jessica has her own pillows, I have mine (medium-firm for me, firm for her.) Added a mattress pad that has support to the lumbar, conforms to my body, and sits atop a feather mattress. All this comfort allows me to forgive the gay pillows that have no use what-so-ever, and that dust ruffle around the periph.
Beds should be playgrounds and havens. Took a bit to get to this point, but dammit it's worth it.

Thank you, Daniel Tosh.

'kay one thing I learned is drinking more beer to get rid of the hangover only prolongs the hangover. I don't have the liver I used to, what with putting beers galore down my gullet in the Navy. 5 beers slays me. >.<

Dear sweet Lord, my head...

Alas! poor Earl!

I knew him, guys; this dude was always relating stories about life in a funny manner, and he always smiled; he helped me out a thousand times when we opened the Webster Surgery Center; and now, the worst thing I can think of has occurred! my teeth are sweating at the thought. We were bro's, taking a step at a late age together on a venture no one was sure about. Where are your jokes now? your jibes and remarks? your blues melodies hummed while you worked? your remarkable insight that could pinpoint someone's fault, yet present it in a humorous manner that taught instead of ridiculed? No one now, to complain about your easy nature? But is that all? I'll go home to drink wine and make love to my lady, and tell her, let her tell her friends of our exploits with the thickness of fervor, she'll do this because I know; your laughter and joie-de-vie extends past to touch others, because of those you have touched.

I'll see you again. But not yet. Not yet.

Earl died a week ago, and he's one of the people who taught me about quiet grace while we opened the Webster Surgery Center. I hear of his loss and hurt, yet I don't see a reason to collapse or go into histronics in front of the co-workers. He taught me a lot, and I think God wanted him home for a reason.

I came home and finished the priorities. The funeral is tomorrow; I'll bring 2 pence to place in his coffin for the Boatman. Until then, I'm going to drink a lot of beer and celebrate the life that was Ernest.

Oh yeah, Cain and Abel:

Sculptages

What I do instead of watching TV:

Photobucket

Mix of 2/3 Procreate and 1/3 Fimo. I'm really digging how this works. Real slow cure, and awesome detail work.

Edit: Things to fix.

This was utilizing color and tone to distinguish distance. I had a limited palette, using Red-Violet, Violet, and Blue-Violet for the cool, Green-Yellow, Yellow, and Orange-Yellow. The foreground elements are untouched by cool light, while the rest was painted with that in mind. Receding elements went toward the lighter tones, forground is in darker tones.

Next week is Mandalas and a tonne of work over the next month. Don't expect much out of me 'til I'm done with this class. Cross your fingers for me and say a prayer for me to pass!

Zot!

I'm impatient when it comes to sculpting 'cuz I want the putty to harden RIGHT NOW or NOT YET. Bit different than Super Sculpey for sure. I'm going to try a bit of Fimo and ProCreate.

You can see on the far left is the ViP 12 sculpt in progress. Yeah, ViP 13 is on now, yet I'm going to finish it. I have a nifty idea to put forth. My ViP13 is on the far right, also in progress. The middle two are my Meddling Kids: Cain and Abel. The Guardians are in armature form only, no roughing out.

I'll post my Color and Design homework tomorrow night. Thinking of putting up my Animation too, so you see the exercises we do.

Edit: Updating sculpts.
